„The book was written by Eminescu." — Aceasta e o propoziție la pasiv. Pasivul în engleză apare frecvent în texte formale, știri și la examenul de BAC. Odată ce înțelegi formula, transformarea devine mecanică și rapidă.

Ce Este Pasivul și Când Îl Folosești
În propoziția activă, subiectul face acțiunea. În propoziția pasivă, subiectul primește acțiunea.
- Activ: Shakespeare wrote Hamlet. (Shakespeare a scris)
- Pasiv: Hamlet was written by Shakespeare. (Hamlet a fost scris)
Folosești pasivul când:
- Autorul acțiunii nu e cunoscut: My car was stolen.
- Autorul nu e important: The road is being repaired.
- Vrei să pui accent pe obiect, nu pe subiect (texte formale, știri)
Formula Pasivului: to be + Participiu Trecut
Formula de bază: subiect + forma lui „to be" + participiu trecut (+ by + agent)

Transformare Activ → Pasiv: Pași Clari
Urmează acești 4 pași pentru orice transformare:
- Pasul 1: Obiectul din activ devine subiect în pasiv
- Pasul 2: Verbul devine „to be" (în același timp) + participiu trecut
- Pasul 3: Subiectul din activ devine „by + agent" (opțional)
- Pasul 4: Verifică acordul subiect-verb

Pasiv: The lesson is explained by the teacher.

Pasivul apare în aproape orice subiect de BAC la engleză. Cu formula „to be + participiu" și tabelul de mai sus, transformările devin rapide și sigure.
